it's a story of teenagers, especially of one girl, Melinda that was raped by Andy Evans, then she becomes depressed and everybody in high school hates her because after she was raped and never told anyone about it..... she called the cops and it was a huge party.... most minors were drinking so everybody blamed her. then she sees the Andy (senior) who raped her, dating her ex-bestfriend so she tells her what happend.... then everybody is now talking about him raping her....then he attempted to rape her again then they sort of faught (physically) then the lacross team came and saved melinda(the girl). there's more to the story.....like the art teacher who understood why she was depressed and also david...her love interest.

"Speak" by Laurie Halse Anderson follows high school student Melinda who becomes an outcast after calling the cops during a party. The story explores themes of trauma, healing, and finding one's voice as Melinda learns to overcome her silence and speak up about her experience. Ultimately, it is a powerful story about resilience and self-discovery.
