Sonic is a secret character ... you get him by playing brawls 300 times,playing 10 hours of brawls, or unlocking him in adventure mode. well if you unlock him in the brawling you cant use campaign so i would suggest to do it in adventure mode
You can also unlock him in Classic mode by beating it with 10 other people (Word of advise, don't use your best character first, save him/her for the tenth time.) After you have beaten Classic mode 10 times with... Let's say Mario, you will see a "Challenger Approaching" screen and Sonic's silhouette will appear.
