Have you checked your bulbs ? The tail light / brake light bulb has 2 wires inside it In my case I have had to change each bulb because the brake light portion did not work but the tail light portion of the bulb did ( I'm assuming that your front park lights are working )

If the headlights are on and brake lights work but not the tail lights, it is possible there is a short in the electrical wires. Another cause for this could be that the tail light bulbs are burned out. Most vehicles have more than one bulb inside the tail lights to control different lights at the same time.
open tail gate.on the side inside box you will see two bolts.take them out and the tail light comes out
The tail light fuse will be in the first column of fuses in the fuse box. The exact location of the tail light fuse will be listed on the inside cover of the fuse box.
Inside trunk, remove thumb screw to fold back paneling near tail lights. Then remove three thumbscrews and the whole tail light assembly can be moved out to change light bulbs.
Open the tail gate and look inside at the side of the bed where the lights are on the side of the bed and you will see 2 small phillp screews. Remove them and the light will come out.
You have to pop the panels off inside of your hatch, right on the other side of the tail lights, you should be able to see the back of the tail light from there.
from inside the trunk just take the plastic pins out that hold the carpet directly behind the tail light and twist the light socket out and change the bulb
Generally, dash lights and tail lights are on the same fuse so that if the tail fuse blows you'll know. When the tail light was "smashed", it shorted out the circuit and blew the fuse. You need to fix the tail light before you can get the dash lights to work.
There is no electricity going to the lights of an automobile if the light switch inside the car is off. The main switch cuts off all current to the lights, both front and rear. There will be current to the tail lights if the brake is applied.
