Honestly I do not know what the science is behind these lights but i thought it would be a good idea to at least give the question an answer
At at least 500 feet, but most likely a lot further back.
If it has lights and sirens on, pull over and let it get at least 500 feet past you before you resume travel.

Mars is easily visible high in the evening sky this season. ============================================ Also ... Saturn is rising in the southeast, visible by 9 PM, almost due south by 12 Midnight. Mercury, Venus, and Jupiter are there, but all appear too close to the sun to be easily visible, for at least several more weeks.
47% at least.
At least 47%.
I'm not sure exactly what you are asking. Do you mean "What features on Earth can you see from space?" There are no man-made objects on Earth that are visible in daytime from even low-Earth orbit about 120 miles up, not even the Great Wall of China. You need at least a small telescope to see any man-made features. You can see things like lakes and big rivers. For example, you could not see Hoover Dam, but you could see Lake Mead behind hit. At night, it's a different story; city lights are clearly visible and give you at least the outline of the city and the major highways between them.
