∙ 15y agoThey aren't, necessarily. The act of reading text from a computer and reading text from a book are the same, and the cognitive learning function is the same. In some cases, computers can enhance certain kinds of learning activities by engaging the learner more deeply in the material through interactive tasks. A computer can also test as the learner goes along, and really good software can make adjustments, explaining concepts the learner isn't solid on and drilling on those areas.

Why are mainframe computers better than others?
They are not necessarily better. They are large computers, capable of storing a lot more information that other computers and they can be used by more than one person at a time. They would be used in large companies and organisations, that require a lot of power and memory to deal with their work. So they are designed for different kinds of work than other smaller computers, but that doesn't mean they are better. Each type of computer has its own importance and uses.
