Tenn
There was no complete state captured. But the battle marked the end of Confederate ascendancy in Western Tennessee, and the state of Tennessee presently came to be regarded as a Union state.
The capture of Confederate forts Henry and Donalson were a key to the battle of Shiloh that would occur later in 1862. The loss of these two forts allowed an opening for the Union troops to use river boats to move into the Confederate state of Tennessee.

The plan to invade the prosperous state of Pennsylvania, to forage for his men and plunder the state for supplies.
Shiloh was fought at Pittsburg Landing on the Tennessee River in Southern Tennessee.
The Battle of Shiloh (April 1862) did not occur in Kentucky. It occured near the river hamlet of Pittsburgh Landing, on the Tennessee River, in the state of Tennesee, about 10 miles north of the Mississippii-Tennesee state line. However it did affect affairs in the state of Kentucky. Kentucky was a border state and officially neutral. Confederate leaders, both military and political, wished to add Kentucky to the Confederacy. In 1861 Confederate General Leonidas Polk invaded Kentucky hoping to turn that state and its population to the Southern Cause. (the invasion is considered one of the most serious political blunders by the South.) That invasion, as did three others during the course of the Civil War, were failures. The Battle of Shiloh, while not ending Confederate intentions in Kentucky, certainly lessened their effectiveness. Simply stated the Union victory at Shiloh ensured the neutrality of Kentucky.
The Battle of Franklin was fought on April 10, 1863. It was a Union victory that helped to make the Confederates of Tennessee discouraged on how well the Union did in the Rebel state.
The second battle of Bull Run was another Bull Run victory for the Confederacy. General Lee drove the Union forces out of Virginia as a result of his victory in the 2nd Bull Run.
The Battle of Prairie Grove was fought on December 7, 1862. It was in the Confederate state of Arkansas and the Union was victorious. The victory secured Northwest Arkansas for the Union.
The early US Civil War Battle of Dry Wood Creek was a Confederate victory. It was fought in Missouri where Union cavalry were defeated by pro-Confederate members of the Missouri State Guard. The battle took place on September 2, 1861.
The US Civil War Battle of Shiloh took place just off of Pittsburg Landing which lay on the Tennessee River. The Confederate state of Tennessee was its Southern location.
The battle of Shiloh took place in Georgia. The late Ray Bradbury alluded to this in his poem - as at the end of the battle- as he puts it, the Peach Blossoms fell on the Drum! Georgia is the peach state.
