A Museum
The oldest building in Cape Town is the castle which was built by the Dutch East India Company settlers between 1666 and 1679. This impressive stone fortress is now a museum open to the public and should be included on the itinerary of any visitor to Cape Town. Originally the castle was built on the beachfront but is now situated in the centre of the city as a result of land reclamation.
The first capital of the Gold Coast, now known as Ghana, was Cape Coast. Established in the late 15th century, Cape Coast served as a major center for the transatlantic slave trade and was the seat of colonial administration until the capital was moved to Accra in 1877. The city is historically significant for its forts and castles, which are remnants of European colonial influence.

It is unknown if there ever was a King Arthur; perhaps his stories are partly fictional and partly based upon stories of several different kings. There is a ruin called Tintagel, which is on the west coast of Cornwall at aprox the same lattitude as Exeter.

Now there you have me. Birmingham Castle - in Paris???? Even in Birmingham, the castle is long gone. Nearby, you can find Weoley Castle, Dudley Castle, Warwick Castle and Castle Bromwich, all now officially in Birmingham, though historically separate. In Paris, the nearest name is the Chateau de Bagatelle, in the Bois de Boulogne.
Arundel castle is a concentric castle built at the end of the 11th century. Even though it's a concentric castle now, it was origionally a motte and bailey castle.
