∙ 14y agoThe Cold War was a different kind of war between the Free World (primarily the US) and Communism (primarily the USSR) between 1945 and 1989. With the collapse of the USSR, the Cold War ended and the US became the only superpower left in the world, with all the burden and responsibility which that entails.
