The Oregon Territory 9don't worry this answer came straight from my history textbook
The US and UK made no agreement concerning the Oregon Trail per se. The trail was a stretch of land that both the US and UK recognized to be inside of US territory and led from St. Louis, Missouri to the western edge of Montana Territory (now the State of Montana). The agreement that the UK and US made was with respect to the Oregon Territory. Moderation won out over calls for war and the 49th parallel was agreed to as the place of the divide, America getting all land south and the UK, all land north in the Oregon Treaty.
The Oregon territory was gained by the UNITED STATES of AMERICA from Britain. The Oregon territory was fairly large, which enabled the US to gain more resources and have more land for settlement. THESE FACTORS ARE THE EFFECTS OF THE ACQUISITION OF THE OREGON TERRITORY
