Chicago is the city where "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" was written.Specifically, author and Oz series originator Lyman Frank Baum (May 15, 1856 - May 6, 1919) originally lived in New York. After his marriage, he moved to the Dakotas. From there, he relocated to Chicago, Illinois, where he lived before, during and a few years after writing "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz."

The Emerald City is a fictional city from the WIzard Of Oz. It is the capital of the Land Of Oz. It is probably most famous for the yellow brick road one can see in the film.

In the original 1900 book edition of 'The Wizard of Oz', the Wizard first lived in Omaha, Nebraska. But in his youth, he accidentally sailed into the beautiful, enchanted, magical lands of Oz. Once there, he became Supreme Ruler. He needed a place that would be big enough to serve as living quarters and office space for him. So he had the Emerald Palace built for him in the Emerald City of Oz.In the beloved 1939 film version, the Wizard lived out of a suitcase as the humbug medium, Professor Marvel. He set up a transient business near where Dorothy Gale lived in Kansas. In Dorothy's dreamland sequences in the beautiful, enchanted, magical places in Oz, the Wizard lived in the Emerald Palacein the Emerald City. But the Wizard longed to return to his hometown of Omaha, Nebraska. So he ended up sailing away in the hot air balloon in which he originally had arrived.he also like to lick lolllipop lots ;P
Nebraska in the book and Kansas in the movie is home to the Wizard in "The Wizard of Oz."Specifically, the Wizard identifies his home state as Nebraska in the original 1900 book edition of "The Wizard of Oz." But in the beloved 1939 film version, he claims that he comes from Kansas. The latter adjusts the role of the Wizard to that of Professor Marvel in Dorothy's dream sequence.
