Spontaneous Generation
This idea is known as spontaneous generation, which was the belief that living organisms could arise from nonliving matter. aristotle and other ancient thinkers believed in this concept, but it was later disproven by experiments conducted by Francesco Redi and Louis Pasteur.

The term for this belief in a life force that could create organic molecules from inorganic matter is known as vitalism. Vitalism suggested that living organisms had a special property or essence that distinguished them from nonliving things and that this essence was responsible for the processes of life.
