The Central nervous system includes the brain and spinal cord.The brain is the control center for all activities in the body.It is made of billions of neurons. The spinal cord is made up of bundles of neurons.Sensory neurons send impulse to the brain.All the nerves outside CNS ( Central Nervous System) that connects the brain and spinal cord to other body parts are part of the Peripheral nervous system. The Peripheral nervous system includes 12 pairs of nerves from your brain called cranial nerves, and 31 pairs of nerves from your spinal cord called Spinal nerves.

You have thousands of nerves that are part of the PNS.Divisions of the peripheral nervous system include the afferent (sensory) division and the efferent (motor) division. The nerves coming from all the senses and the nerves going to glands and muscles are included.The efferent division is divided further into the somatic motor nervous system and thesomatic nervous system which includes all voluntary motor pathways outside the central nervous system.
Afferent neurons are those that transmit signals from sensory transducers to the central nervous system (i.e., the spinal cord and the brain). The complementary group of neurons are the efferent neurons that transmit signals from the central nervous system to effectors, that generate a response to the environmental input.
I'm not positive, but I think that reflexes are controlled by the sympathetic nervous system (SNS). The sympathetic nervous system is part of the autonomic nervous system (ANS), which is part of the peripheral nervous system (PNS). The SNS is responsible for fight-or-flight responses. For example, if you see a shark coming directly at you, you decide to try to either get away from it (flight) or fight it off (fight). Reflexes are mediated by reflex arcs, which are neural pathways. Some sensory neurons pass directly to the synapse of the spinal cord, rather than the brain. This allows reflexes to occur relatively quickly.

Multipolar neurons This is the most common type of neuron, with one axon and many dendrites. Multipolar neurons are so-named because they have many (multi-) processes that extend from the cell body: lots of dendrites plus a single axon. Functionally, these neurons are either motor (conducting impulses that will cause activity such as the contraction of muscles) or association (conducting impulses and permitting 'communication' between neurons within the central nervous system).
