The answer is the Persian war.
Lade, Marathon, Salamis, Plataea, Mycale, Cyprus.
They were all part of the Persian attempt to subdue troubles to its empire from the city-states of mainland Greece.
The Spartans did not 'follow' the Persians - they were part of a blocking force which delayed the Persian army for three days, and had no effect on the following two-year campaign which defeated the Persians at the battles of Salamis, Plataia and Mycale.
It lasted 499 to 449 BCE, involving the Persian Empire and a coalition of about 180 Greek city-states. It included the critical battles of Marathon, Salamis, Plataea, Mycale and Eurymedon. The first part to 478 BCE is covered in Herodotus The Histories.
Thermopylai was not a Spartan-Persian battle. It was part of the Persian invasion of peninsular Greece lasting two years involving many Greek cities. The Spartan force at Thermopylai was 300 warriors out of a Greek force of about 8,000. The two-year invasion included several sea and land battles in which Sparta provided some of the Greek naval forces and land forces totalling a couple of hundred thousand. Those battles were Artemesion, Salamis, Plataia and Mykale.
There was no Salamis war. There was a naval battle of Salamis which was part of the Greek strategy to repel the Persian invasion of the Greek mainland in 480 BCE.
The Athenians were not part of the force at Thermopylai. They were manning their navy, which was part of the naval force assembled at Artemesion in the nearby strait fighting the Persian fleet. After the sea battle was lost, the fleet retired to Salamis for another try. Meanwhile, they abandoned their city, sending their non-combatants to refuge in Peloponnesian cities.
