A civil war is a war fought amongst itself and involving no foreign nation. In the US Civil War (officially designated the "War of the Rebellion" and also known as the "war between the states") Americans were killing Americans. Since US citizens were killling US citizens, this quite naturally made the US Civil War the most bloodiest war in US history. The Viet War on the other hand was a nation called NORTH Vietnam fighting a nation called SOUTH Vietnam. That's not a civil war. It's a traditional war of one country fighting another; it just so happend they had the same last name...Vietnam.
