The Shawnee did not live in tipis, but in small, round wigwams called wikkum or weekiwa in the Shawnee language. These were covered with large sheets of bark and housed a single family unit. Villages often included larger longhouse-type buildings, again covered with bark, which were used for ceremonies and meetings.
