On my xk8 it is usually because the fluild is below the sensor in the coolant resovior. the light usually goes out once i top off the coolant. It is located next to the throttle body. Caution only open when car is cool. If that does not work you will need a new sensor.
On my XK8 I found that the problem was with the float switch inside the reservoir. The sensor slides up inside a tube from under the reservoir and is a reed switch activated by a magnet. Back inside the reservoir the tube containing the sensor has a a floating collar around it which holds a small magnetic pin.
I replaced the sensor (approx £40) and the problem was still there. When fishing around inside the reservoir my screwdriver pulled up the magnetic pin from the bottom - it had detached from the collar. Virtually ipossible to fix as you have to work through the opening to the reservoir. Only solution was a new reservoir (Approx £100).
So I unplugged the sensor plug, wedged a paper clip in to close the contacts, taped it up with electrical tape and job done! Just keep an eye on the temp gauge and/or check your coolant level from time to time.
The low coolant level sensor is faulty. If you check ebay, there is a repair service. Pez
Check the level sencor in bottle.
The coolant level switch on a 95 Achieva has a sticking problem. If you tap the coolant tank near the sensor the light will go out
Perhaps a defective sensor?
Probably low on coolant, check the reservoir.
my car doing the same thing
Check the coolant level in the reservoir. If that's up and the vehicle isn't overheating, you probably have a bad sensor.
could be a bad clockspring
May indicate which side of the vehicle where the fuel door is located
There is a sensor that is in the overflow bottle that may be bad causing the "low coolant light" to illuminate. The coolant level switch is located on the bottom side of the coolant tank. The switch contains a reed switch and a magnetic float. When the coolant level is normal, the float rests away from the reed switch, causing the switch to be open. When the coolant level decreases in the coolant recovery tank below a specified level, the float rests on the reed switch and the switch closes, illuminating the LOW COOLANT light. The coolant level switch is a part of the coolant tank. If the switch needs to be replaced, the coolant tank must be replaced.
It is your mass air flow light sensor that is located on the air filter boxI originally thought it might have something to do with my electrical system, because it seemed to come on corresponding to times when my batter would die. After searching, I read in one place that somebody believes it to be when your engine coolant is low.I'm going to try the coolant idea [though it is January, so I cannot imagine my engine being too warm?]. Good luck to you in finding the solution, if you are having it come on.it is infact your coolant light the maf will just trigger a cel if it is going bad and eventually just wont let your car start if gone badthe birdcage is your coolant light if your low it will triggerLow coolant level.
check the oxygen sensor or oil pump is going out have that checked too
