A fungus is an eukaryotic organism. Its cells contain organelles, including a nucleus. Most importantly, it is able to create its own ribosomes and other enzymes. A virus is simply a strand of nucleic acid (DNA or RNA) wrapped in a protein coat. It is debatable whether or not it is living; it cannot produce its own ribosomes.
