2) to answer the question on how to obtain them, there are multiple ways. one way is to defeat enemies(Bokoblens, Dinalfos rejects,etc.) and another is to gain them from opening chests in dungeons.

use the gale boomerang to get behind russle's house in the ordon village. There's 100 rupees back there. Also when you're looking for owl statues, theres 100 rupees next to each statue. Also in the pit of trials in the desert you can get many rupees there too because there's so many enemies. =) have fun
