Although Virginia likes to tout this as being so....it was the paving method that was used and the first street paved in 1870 on Sumner Street was the first one paved with this in the US.Actually the Romans and people of India used brick roads way before the US was established!Brick paved streets were used in India as early as 3000 BC[3]In 500 BC, Darius I the Great started an extensive road system for Persia (Iran), including the famous Royal Road which was one of the finest highways of its time.[14] The road remained in use after Roman times.
