A twelve year old boy, Taras Genet, was the youngest person to climb and conquer Mount McKinley as of 1991.
The record was broken on June 17 2001 by 11 year old Galen Johnston of Talkeetna, Alaska he summited with his parents.
The youngest girl to summit was 12 year old Merrick Johnston (no relation to Galen). (records according to Denali National Park and Preserve). She climbed it in 1995. Twelve-year-old Romanian climber Dor Geta Popescu tied with her in 2016.

∙ 9y agoThe first ascent of the main summit of McKinley came on June 7, 1913 by a party led by Hudson Stuck and Harry Karstens. The first man to reach the summit was Walter Harper, an Alaska Native. Robert Tatum also made the summit.
