It was the far-ultraviolet space telescope taken to the Moon by Apollo 16. It took about 200 photographs showing the stars. So much for the Moon Hoaxers who claim none of the Apollo photos showed stars! Interestingly enough, the Apollo 'scope looked at the stars in frequencies that had never been seen before, as far ultraviolet is absorbed by Earth's atmosphere before it can reach telescopes on the ground. The discoveries the Apollo 16 space telescope made were later verified by comparison with imagery from various' countries later space telescopes. In other words, Apollo 16 captured data no hoaxer could have created as it involved things that hadn't been discovered yet. So much for the idea that Apollo was a hoax!

The telescope sent into space to capture sharper and clearer images of planets, stars, and deep space is called the Hubble Space Telescope.
NASA's most famous telescope is probably the Hubble Telescope that orbits the earth.
Though not the first one, yet one of the most popular space telescopes is the Hubble Space telescope. It's named after the American astronomer Edwin Hubble, and was carried into orbit by space shuttle Discovery in April 1990. It marks a landmark in the growth of astronomy world over, and is also considered to be a vital research tool. During my trip to the US Space and Rocket Centre at Huntsville, Alabama as a member of Space Camp India (http://spacecampindia.com/) I had seen images sent back by the Hubble Telescope. We also got to learn how the telescope functions.
There is only one single Hubble Space Telescope. It was placed into Earth orbit in April of 1990, and is expected to remain useful and productive until sometime between 2014 and 2020.

The USSR sent the first animals into space.
Canada has never sent a Space Shuttle into space.
The first thing sent into outer space was a satellite
The Hubble Telescope was sent into space in 1990. It was designed and built for several years before that. As of 2014, it is still in operation.
Russia
As of now, the latest spacecraft sent to outer space is the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), which was launched in December 2021. It is an advanced observatory that will help astronomers study the universe in infrared wavelengths.
