Aerobic respiration takes place in a great number of living things and serves as a means to eliminate carbon dioxide and other toxic materials from the body. It also helps to eliminate the free radicals that are responsible for a great number of health problems. All this life saving process of aerobic respiration takes place in the mitochondria, the subcellular structure present in all living cells. Hence, these mitochondria are termed as power houses of the cells. If the body cells of an aerobic organism are deprived of oxygen, then the organism dies within a very short period due to accumulation of toxic materials and lack of production of energy currency.

The major role of oxygen in aerobic respiration is to synthesize the energy currency of the cell ATP by accepting electrons generated from the breakdown of the macromolecules present in the food. It can also be said that oxygen is essential for the breakdown of the macromolecules present in the food we ingest.

Is E aerogenes aerobic?

E. Coli can be but only in oxygen free conditions. Normally it is aerobic.

What distinguishes aerobic from anaerobic respiration?

Aerobic respiration requires oxygen to produce energy in the form of ATP, while anaerobic respiration does not require oxygen and produces energy through fermentation. Aerobic respiration is more efficient, producing more ATP molecules than anaerobic respiration.

What are the aerobic and anaerobic culture media?

Aerobic culture media contains oxygen and is used to grow organisms that require oxygen to grow, while anaerobic culture media is oxygen-free and is used to grow organisms that can only survive in the absence of oxygen. The choice of media depends on the type of microorganism being cultured and its oxygen requirements.

Is Swine Flu aerobic?

It is not classified that same way as bacteria are. Bacteria are classified as aerobic or anaerobic to indicate if they are aerobic (require oxygen to function) or anaerobic (live in an oxygen-free environment). But bacteria are living organisms very different from viruses (swine flu is caused by a virus). Viruses are not "alive", they live off a host animal or plant (and even on bacteria) and cause the living organisms to metabolize and provide for them. Viruses don't really care if there is or is not an oxygen rich atmosphere as long as the environment is good for their host (in most cases, this is an aerobic environment.)

What is aerobic definition?

The process of respiration that take place in the presence of oxygen is called aerobic respiration this results in the release of energy and in formation of water and carbondioxide

What is a aerobic heterotroph?

An aerobic heterotroph is an organism that obtains energy by breaking down organic compounds in the presence of oxygen. These organisms rely on consuming organic molecules from their environment to sustain themselves and carry out cellular respiration to produce ATP for energy. Examples include most animals, fungi, and some bacteria.

What is the meaning of the term anaeroboc?

Anaerobic means:living, active, occurring, or existing in the absence of free oxygen, orrelating to, or being activity in which the body incurs an oxygen debt

If oxygen is not utilized in the Krebs Cycle why is it called aerobic respiration?

The answer is the Krebs Cycle is only one step in aerobic respiration. The Krebs cycle strips away carbon from the molecule being catabolized in order to free up electrons. These electrons then go on to the electron transport chain, which requires oxygen.

What does it mean to say that glycolysis is an aerobic process?

Cellular respiration sometimes is referred to as aerobic respiration, meaning that it occurs in the presence of oxygen, and is not an anaerobic process. Glycolysis is one of the processes in cellular respiration. In the final steps of glycolysis, two hydrogen atoms are removed from each three-carbon compound by bonding to free-floating oxygen atoms in the cytoplasm to form water.

What must photosynthetic bacteria provide before any eukaryotes could evovlve?

Oxygen. Photosynthetic bacteria were essential in producing oxygen through photosynthesis, which created an oxygen-rich atmosphere. This new oxygenated environment allowed for the evolution of aerobic metabolism in eukaryotes.

Where would it be possible to find aerobic music that is free?

There are several sources for free aerobic music. For music that includes video, a good place to start would be YouTube. There are free MP3 downloads of aerobic music available at Last.fm Power Music.

What is Anaerobic?

An anaerobe is an organism that grows without air. The organism can only live in oxygen-free conditions. If oxygen is present, the organism could die.
