I find the word "Importance" interesting within itself, notice "Port" in the word,-Port is a old nautical word for "Left" put that with the prefix "IM" you have I'm Left.
As the little Proverb goes: "The Truth is Stranger then Fiction"- One could hardly argue that the word itself "Importance" and or "Important" could well be from the significance of a event or events that denoted Survival, and surely Sacred Scriptures, were and are, about Survival. The Majority of Sacred Scriptures, Books, are instruction manuals, dealing with the rules, laws statutes, commands, etc. as to what one must do to Survive the Wrath of this or that perticular Deity. As far as any centralistic importance, for followers of the Sacred book itself, it becomes as the word itself, "Sacred" the attempt to become Holy, which is what the word itself Boils down to. Now this is just my Two cents worth, what makes something Important to one, may be something that is of no importance to another, and even as far as so called "Sacred Books" or "Scriptures" you will find that those who use them, use them in ways that only benefit their particulor purpose in the first place.
