When you insert a key into an ignition and it won't turn could be a couple of resons. One could be that the ignition is worn out and unable to match the cuts on the key or the key was improperly cut. Many GM vehicles (and potentially others) have a steering wheen lock that will lock the ignition key. Simply turning the steering wheel in either direction will fix this.

∙ 14y agoSome metal part inside the ignition broke and is jamming. The lock will have to be replaced.
One time, when this happened to an old car of mine, I jammed a screwdriver into the ignition and turned it just like a key. It worked fine but I was always worried about the police noticing this and thinking I stole the car.

∙ 15y agoIf it is simply just turning past where it should catch and turn on then it is a module inside. I'd take it to a mechanic I had same issue.

Your 91 infiniti g20 wont start the lights come on and so does the radio but when you turn the ignition there is no noise at all anybody know what is wrong?
Check the ignition switch itself, sounds like it may be the problem.
Car wont start however your lights come and the on automatic locks click when you try to lock or unlock and radio does not go on?
IGNITION SWITCH, UR RADIO'S SECONDARY POWER COMES FROM THE IGNITION SWITCH SO WHEN U TURN YOUR CAR OFF THE RADIO AND OTHER ACCESSORIES TURN OFF AS WELL.

I have the exact same problem. After replacing the fuel pump everything was fine. Now the fuel pump does not always kick on and you have to turn the ignition on and off until you hear the fuel pump kick in. Went to start this morning and fuel pump did not kick in, still wont. So I checked the relays, all good. Now the fuel pump kicks on but it still wont start. Did the computer on this thing die?
