Ccntrol espionage in the usual sense ( spies and counterspies). to tighten a censorship on public opinion, particularily concerning the War Effort- one might note this extended to dialogue, say in War Films- nothing about a certain Field Grade officer who had known Bundist ties... Ever notice you never hear dialogue- like some Fonda- type screen admiral intoning * Roosevelt is a big F__, ) ever notice how politics never directly figures in Hollywood war films! the act was in action, indeed. Atempt to muzzle and control public opinion, useful in wartime, but, but butl. not good for civil liberties.
