The Sun rises in the East, generally.

At high latitudes, the Sun can appear to rise in the northeast or in the southeast, but there is always at least a LITTLE bit of east in the direction.

From a point on the surface of the earth, the sun appears to rise from the eastern horizon every day. This simple, general statement has to exclude points within 23.5 degrees of the north and south poles (inside the Arctic and Antarctic circles). At any point within these circles, there are days when the sun does not set, and nights when the sun does not rise.

The Sun, and every other heavenly body, sets in the west. Sometimes a little north of west, and sometimes a little south of west, but in the west.

The Sun and other objects don't actually rise or set at all; it just appears that way because the Earth is spinning like a carousel, from west to east. The Earth is too big, and too close, for us to see it moving and we are carried along with it.

East, just like the Sun. It has to do with the direction the Earth rotates.

The sun rises in the east and sets in the west. This is, of course, apparent motion and not true motion.
