Christians believe that this would be a false religion and that one cannot have God without Christ and one cannot have Christ without the church. Using The Bible (by faith known as the "Holy Word of God"), please notice the comparison of Christ, the church and husband and wife (bold emphasis added):

Ephesians 5:22-28 (New International Version)22Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. 23For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. 24Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.

For the Christian, one cannot have Christ without the church and there is no religion other than that which God has established through the church.

The Bible encourages that people, or "the church" meet together.

The reason one would go to church, whatever denomination or whatever religion, is that one may grow in that person's faith. Also, going to church would aid in assisting one in learning how to be better in their practice of their faith and to associate with those that have similar beliefs.
