The League of Nations had stated that, so the Senate did not ratify the Treaty of Versailles.

united nations if after WWII but if after WWI its the league of nations. but the US didn't join the league of nations because they tried isolationism which is to isolate the country from foreign affairs and that was the league of nations. the US did join the united nations though
