I answered this question last week, but I'll do it again. Pixar has not always been an independent company. They were originally the Computer Division of Lucasfilm Ltd. owned by George Lucas. In the 1980s, they were bought by Steve Jobs and they became an independent company. Hope this helps.
pixar
Pixar is the original name, but it was originally partnered with other companies like Lucas Films and in 2006, Disney purchased the company for around $6 billion.
Steve Jobs

PIXAR...
To tell the viewers that this is a movie produced by Pixar, and released by Disney. The Walt Disney Company bought Pixar Animation in 2006, so the films produced by Pixar are owned by Disney so a movie says it's a "Disney-Pixar film" because it has the cooperation of both studios.
Up, released in 2009.
In the Pixar film, UP, the dog's name is Dug.
