Neal Armstrong, Edwin Aldrin, and Michael Collins traveled to the moon and entered lunar orbit.
Armstrong and Aldrin descended from orbit in the Lunar Excursion Module, walked on the surface briefly
and collected samples, before returning to the orbiting Command Module.
Collins stayed in the Command Module while Armstrong and Aldrin were away on the surface,
before they beamed back aboard.
They were shockingly tiny when veiwed from the inside.

Apollo 11 was named after the Apollo program, which aimed to land a person on the Moon and bring them safely back to Earth. The number 11 designates that it was the eleventh mission in the Apollo program's series of lunar missions.
In 1968, the crew of the NASA mission Apollo 8 were the first to travel to the Moon, but did not land there. On July 20, 1969, Apollo 11 astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin were the first to land there, with Armstrong being the first to set foot on the surface.
