what plane did skunk work and kelly jonhson build?
Cool question actually!
Take a look at the article Popular Mechanics wrote on Skunk Works and Kelly Johnson
http://www.popularmechanics.com/science/air_space/1280596.html?page=1
It's a long article but worth it. It has a detailed look at both Johnson and his pioneering aviation work. It was published in the Sept. 1999 issue.
His newest design, the twin-tailed, 400-mph P-38 Lightning, was the most maneuverable fighter-and arguably the most beautiful airplane-in the Allied force I think the question should read planes plural. Skunk Works developed a lot of aircraft, from prop plans to jets and spyplanes, including the U2 and SR-71.
There is even a great explanation as to how the company got it's name:
The stench from a nearby plastic factory that wafted into the tent was so vile one of the engineers began answering the phone "skonk works," after the backwoods still in the then popular L'il Abner comic strip. Have fun with the article. It's well worth the read and chock a block full of details.
SR-71.
Sr 71 blackbird
the plane is called the sr-71. nicknamed the 'blackbird'.
There were many planes made by them, do you have any idea what it looks like?
SR-71, which was nicknamed "Blackbird".
SR-71 "Blackbird" And also your face jk um i am still not sure trying to make a better answer
Johnson oversaw the design of the U-2 spy plane (1955), the F-104 Starfighter (1956), and the SR-71 Blackbird (variant of A-12 and YF-12A, 1964) while an engineer and Vice President at Lockheed.
Their first plane was the XP-80, which became the F-80 Shooting Star--America's first jet fighter. It was rapidly replaced by the F-86, America's second jet fighter, because the F-80 wasn't as good as the MiG fighters it went up against over Korea.
The U-2 spy plane was developed by the Lockheed Corporation, specifically by a team led by Clarence "Kelly" Johnson, who was the head of the Skunk Works division. The aircraft was designed in the 1950s for high-altitude reconnaissance missions during the Cold War. Its first flight took place in 1955, and it became a crucial tool for gathering intelligence.
The Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird, with a cruising speed of Mach 3.2.
kelly jonsen designed it but skunk works engineers helped to build the SR-71 the F-22 Raptor was made buy the same people as the SR-71 Blackbird
