Meteorite
It is called a meteorite if it lands on the Earth's surface.
There is no such thing as a star that has fallen to the ground. The stars are too far away for Earth to affect them and, despite appearing small in the sky, are many times larger than Earth. A meteor that has struck the ground is called a meteorite.
A meteor is the visible "fireball" or streak in the sky.A meteoroid is the sort of object that would form a meteor if it were in Earth's atmosphere, falling rapidly (so, basically, a rock, but one that happens to be "in space").A meteorite is the remnant of a meteoroid/meteor after it has fallen to Earth (most meteors are quite small and burn up completely in the atmosphere).
"A meteroid that hits earth's atmosphere becomes a meteor. When it comes to rest on the earth's surface it is then known as a meteorite."Actually, the portion of a meteor that hits the surface of the earth is called a meteorite. A meteor is the steak of light we see acrss the sky, which can be part of a comet, a meteoroid, an asteroid, or any other interplanetary debris we may see from earth. However, a meteor is the larger part that can be seen, but not the actual portion that hits the earth. (Source: Astonomy Today, 6th edition by Chassion & McMillan)
meteor Chase
if a meteor hit earth and a piece of earth (the moon) chipped off. earths gravitational pull could be sufficient to make the moon orbit around the earth.
Meteor-ite.
When a meteor hits the Earth it forms a crater.
