The two Purines are:
Adenine and Guanine (A and G)
The two Pyrimidines are:
Cytosine and Thymine (C and T)
I presume you are talking about the 4 heterocyclic bases in DNA. Two, cytosine and thymine, are based on pyrimidine and the other two, guanine and adenine, are based on purine.
Cytosine and thymine are pyrimidines.
No
DNA molecules have four different kinds of bases. These bases pair up with one another in order to make DNA.
Since the 4 bases are composed of 2 purines (adenine and guanine) and 2 pyrimidines (cytosine and thymine), 1 purine is bonded to 1 pyrimidine (e.g. guanine-cytosine; adenine-thymine). And the bond or linkage between this purine and pyrimidine is because of HYDROGEN BONDING.
A nucleotide consists of three components: 1. A 5-carbon sugar (deoxyribose for DNA or ribose for RNA) 2. A nitrogenous base (adenine, cytosine guanine and thymine (or uracil in RNA) 3. A phosphate group
In DNA, Adenine bonds with Thymine, Cytosine bonds with Guanine. In RNA, Thymine is replaced with Uracil (bases capitalized for easy emphasis/reference, not grammar.) Purines and Pyrimidines are two families of Nitrogenous bases. In DNA: Adenine and Guanine : Purines Cytosine and Thymine: Pyrimidines Adenine bonds with Thymine and Guanine bonds with Cytosine. A&T have 2 hydrogen bonds and G&C have 3 hydrogen bonds.
There are 2 groups of nitrogen bases. These are Pyrimidine and Purine. In the Purine group, there are Adenine and Guanine, In the Pyrimidine group, there are Cytosine, Thymine(replaced by Uracil in RNA).
