Not a lot. A fire fighting pump found on most fire engines is the centrifugal type. A slurry pump is a type of centrifugal pump, used for pumping liquid with solids. The main pump parts are, impeller, liner, casing, base and bearing assembly. For now there are horizontal slurry pump, vertical slurry pump and submersible slurry pump, every type has its condition in the industry, but all used for slurry pumping.
It must be a centrifugal pump as the pump supplies water to coolers such as fuel oil ,lube oil and the fresh water generator. Also to reduce the scale formation in the pipes connected the flow rate is kept high. these demands can be fullfilled by a centrifugal pump only
