The two strands of DNA nucleotides are held together by hydrogen bonds between complimentary nitrogen bases. Adenine pairs with guanine and cytosine pairs with thymine. When it is time for a cell to reproduce, and during protein synthesis, an enzyme called helicase breaks the hydrogen bonds between the two strands. This way DNA can be replicated in preparation for cell reproduction or it can be used as a template for protein synthesis.

What is the weak chemical bonds important in holding the dna double helix together is the?

The chemical bond that holds the double helix together in DNA are the hydrogen bonds. Hydrogen bonds are the weakest making them perfect for DNA replication.

What is the region of a chromosome holding the two double strands of replicated DNA together called?

The region of a chromosome holding the two double strands of replicated DNA together is called a centromere. The complex of DNA and protein that makes up eukaryotic chromosome is properly called chromatin.

What does a two-directional arrow need in a chemical reaction?

A double arrow shows that the reaction is reversible, it represents an equilibrium in which the products on the right can react together and produce the left hand side. A chemical equation without a double arrow isn't reversible and can only go in one direction

What name is given when chemicals react together?

What is the structure and location of DNA in eukaryotes?

DNA organization of Eukaryotes has the nucleic acids A pair with T and C pair with T in a double helix formation. Proteins help keep this all together along with hydrogen bonds holding the subunits of DNA together while covalent (strong) bonds hold the two strands together to make the double helix.
