False.
As server performance is better if the paging file is not placed on the boot partition or volume that contains system files \ Windows foleder
Paging file is located in the root folder of the system drive.
Space. Speed - if the boot drive is slow and you have an alternate drive that is faster (don't want to reload windows) - a faster paging file will increase speed of Windows when you have a lot of applications running.
Paging File
"pagefilesys" is your windows paging file. It's basically virtual ram that sits on your hard drive ready to be used.
By default the paging file 1.5 times the size of the RAM installed
win386.swp (it resides in the Windows directory)
Windows virtual memory does not reside in any one file. Virtual mmeory is actually a system that virtualizes all access to memory and provides a consistent environment that is independent of the size of RAM. Paging occurs to many different files, not just the pagefile. By default the pagefile name is "pagefile.sys" and resides in the root of the system drive. Both the name and location can be changed. In A+ Guide to Managing & Maintaining Your PC Sixth Edition, Page 59 of Chapter 2 "What an Operating System Does" You will find it says: "The data is stored in a file on the hard drive called a SWAP file or PAGE file. The Windows 2000/XP swap file is Pagefile.sys, and the Windows 9x/Me swap file is Win386.swp."

C:\pagefile.dat
This question answers itself. It takes time to retrieve information from the paging file on the hard drive.
C:/pagefile.sys
If your paging file is stored on hard drive, it will cause your applications to work slower if for instance it was stored in RAM.
