The Republic of Ireland does not have zip codes or post codes.

Dublin is split into postal districts though, so you will see a one or two digit number after the city name in address - such as "DUBLIN 1".

There is also an unofficial system called PONC which some people are using as an alternative to postcodes, especially with sat-nav, etc.

Ireland does not have any ZIP codes. IE is sometimes used as a code for Ireland, like on website domains, but not for postal addresses. Addresses can be based on names, buildings, streets, townlands, towns, counties and the name of the country

Ireland does not have postcodes so there is no specific postcode for Dublin. However, Dublin has postal districts ranging from Dublin 1 to Dublin 24 and parts of Dublin outside of those are referred to as county Dublin. So it will depend on where specifically you are posting to as to which you use. For an internet form looking for postcodes, use IE.

Swords is outside the Dublin postal region and does not have a postcode. The correct address would be Swords, Co. Dublin. At present only the city of Dublin and some surrounding districts have postal codes which are numbered from 1-24 (with one additional one which is a small area known as Dublin 6W). They are often shown in the format D2, D5, D17, etc at the end of an address. The creation of a nationwide postal code system for the Republic of Ireland is currently under discussion.
