8 bactrian camels and 11 dromedaries
There are two types of camels in the world. They are the Bactrian and the Arabian camel. The Bactrian camel has two humps on its back, while the Arabian camel has one. The humps contain fat that provides the animal with nutrients when food is not available.
Either one or two, depending on what type of camel it is. The Dromedary camel (also known as the Arabian camel and the one-humped camel) has a single hump and is found in the dry desert areas of western Asia. The Bactrian camel has two humps and is found in eastern Asia.
Bactrian camel (two-humps, endangered): Camelus bactrianus
2, Dromedary and Bactrian
There two different types of camels. Those types are Dromedary camels, which are the Middle Eastern variety with one hump and the Bactrian camels which are Asian and have two humps.
Many Bactrian camels these days are domesticated. A wild Bactrian camel is a camel that is in the wild and not domesticated.
There are two species/types named "Dromedary" and "Arabian".
About 405 days, or 13-1/2 months, for either dromedary or bactrian camels. Depending on how well fed and watered they are, the pregnancy could last as little as 12 months or up tp 14 months.
One every two years and rarely twins.
The haploid number of both the one-humped camel (dromedary) and the two-humped camel (bactrian) is 37.
[[They originated in the African deserts and expanded to different countries all over the world!]] That answer is technically wrong. Camelid species originated in North America. Some migrated south and evolved into vicunas and guanacos (and later domesticated llamas). Others migrated back across the Bering Strait and developed into Bactrian and Dromedary camels (which have been domesticated since at least 2500 BC - not many exist in the wild anymore). The original camels in North America died out.
The different types of camel are:1. Bactrian camels are well suited for cold climates with rugged terrain. With their shorter legs and stout bodies they can walk over slippery surfaces that dromedary camels can't handle.2. F1 hybrid camel are half-Dromedary and half-Bactrain cross. F1 hybrids are the largest camels and make for good draft animals, They have one large hump on their backs.3. F2 Hybrid Bactrian camel, 3/4-Bactrain 1/4-Dromedary. Like the Bactrian camel they can walk over ice, mud, snow, and slippery surfaces. A good all around camel that can handle steep rocky mountain trails.4. Snow-white Dromedaries- They are faster and can travel more miles in a day than the Bactrain camel. Good in deserts, flat land or rolling hills, not good on slippery surfaces.5. Black Camels - are more rare than white camels. These beautiful black dromedaries are bred for show and their beauty. Some places consider them to be adverse and bad luck
