If you do not know this most basic automotive skill, I suggest you take it to a shop and let someone who knows what their doing, check the timing. If it is beyond the +or- 3 degrees have them adjust it back to spec's. You do not say why in your question. Usually timing is good for long periods of time, what makes you think it is out of spec? Buy a 'timing light' and follow the instructions that come with it.
