Tips on inserting NuvaRing far enough i have tried using my fingers but too slippery and a tampon applicator but can't get it far enough?

Are you sure it isn't in far enough already? According to the manufacturer it's still effective as long as it is in your birth canal, i.e. as long as it sits in your vagina you're fine. It's only a problem if it falls out.
