the motor is ok if it will go in at least one direction....most likely the switch is bad
well iam a retard you have take off the door panel to get to the motor but to replace the window switch get a flathead sd and stick it under the front of the switch holder and lift up
how do remove the tailgate's window motor on a toyota 4runner 1997 ?
Bad motor? Check to see if you are getting powerBad switch?Open wire to motor?
Several thins can cause the 98 Avalon window to not go up. The switch could be bad, the motor relay could be bad, or the motor itself can be defective.
To determine whether the window switch or the window motor is faulty, you can perform a simple test. First, try operating the window using the switch; if the window does not move but you hear a clicking sound from the switch, the motor might be bad. Next, if you have access to a multimeter, you can test for voltage at the motor connector when the switch is activated; if there’s voltage but the motor doesn’t work, the motor is likely the issue. Conversely, if there's no voltage at the motor connector, the switch may be defective.
There is no resetting it. Either your circuit won't close (could be due to a broken switch, broken or shorted wiring, a bad relay, etc.) or the window motor is toast.
The clicking is the sound of the motor moving so the switch is working. Sounds like the teeth on the gears or the window lever are stripped or hopefully not meshed properly. Pull the motor again and look at the teeth on both sides really good for any signs of wear. Then with motor off and where you can see it. check the switch again.
the switch is on the door panel approx four inches from the window, this is the only switch that sends power to the window regulator motor (window motor).
There is only one fuse for all power windows. If only the passenger side window does not work, the problem is either with the passenger window switch or the motor on that window.
You are going to have 2 things to repair with this problem. The window switch and the window motor. The weak motor has melted the inside of the switch. Yep...been there, done that.Replacing the motor wont fix the switch and if you replace the switch the weak motor will melt the new switch.
A power window relay switch relays the power from the car's battery, to the switch itself, and then to the window motor. When pressing the button inside of the car it allows the power to go from the relay switch to the motor and roll the window up or down.
9 outta 10 times it will be a bad power window motor. I rarely see the window switch go bad.
