Commerce is very important for economy and actually serves as the backbone. Commerce is the day to day trading activities in a region.
Well, an economic region would be a region that has produced goods and services. A physical region is is a region that includes landforms such as mountain and etc. So, an economic region is not a physical region.

human settlements have thrived in west africa because it is near rivers and along coastline and rains often so it has many sources of water and it is near the equator which makes it warm (and which is why it has so much rain) and then being near the ocean cause a cooling effect which overall make it a good place for farming and has very pleasant weather
