Yes,

However, you will not be tempted more than you can withstand.

We are supposed to develop patience since when it is perfected it develops character and allows us to be withstand longsuffering which will allow us to love one another more deeply, since we can be more forgiving.

Hope deferred makes the heart sick. However, if we can have hope we can be patient. We can have hope that when we are going through a trial, that the Lord will make us stronger and more able to cope. We can praise god that are faith is being tested, because as we progress and keep our faith/joy/peace and praise God through it, we are developing a deeper love and trust in our God. Our hope is that after the trying we will be promoted. Just like Job was, and also Just like the three who were thrown into the fire in the old testament. Their faith was tried, and they came out of the fire unscathed, and then the king immediately promoted them. God can't promote us unless we can handle the promotion. We can only handle the promotion if we are of strong faith. God won't promote us if our faith is weak because he won't allow us to be tempted beyond that which we can withstand, and if we are promoted to a position of power and we don't have faith but instead have pride we will surely fall and injure ourselves. God doesn't want that to happen to us. He wants to provide for us and love us, so that we can do his will and advance his love. Remember: John 3:30 as we are decreased, God is increased. So the less we rely on ourselves, and the more we rely on God, the more faith we have and the more we can accomplish God's will in our life.

What does the Bible say about patience?

== == === === There are so many references to patience, but it is always presented as a virtue to be sought after, and one that is not gained easily or comes naturally...a fact that many of us can testify to! However, it is always a worthy reward for trials. By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation works patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope: For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith works patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that you may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. Knowing this, that the trying of your faith works patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.
