There are many approaches in analyzing poetry. Basically, you are trying to show how the poet writes poetry. Analyze syntax: talk about the methods used in the poem such as sentence structures, sentence length, word order, punctuation, and repetition. Also talk about it's significance of the methods and what it reveals about the speaker and poem. Do the same when analyzing diction: word choices and loaded words; and figurative language: metaphors, similes, and imagery.
The poem seems like it is about someone trying to find a safe place in the hectic world. Seeing as to how her poems are about black oppression before, i'd guess its about a African American trying to escape the torture whites had put them through.
