How do you obtain an ATEX certificate?

An ATEX certificate is needed to demonstrate that an equipment can be safely operated in a potentially explosive athmosphere created by the presence of flammable gas, vapour, mist or clouds of combustibe dust. ATEX certificates are issued only by European Notified Certification Bodies, such as PTB or DEKRA EXAM in Germany, CESI or IMQ in Italy, BASEEFA in UK and many others. The ATEX Certificate, officially known as "EC Type Examination Certificate", is issued following the examination of the equipment Technical File and testing, according to the relevant standards that are applicable for each specific type of explosion protection applied to the equipment, such as flameproof or dust proof containers, intrinsically safe electrical devices, etc. Once the ATEX certificate is obtained the manufacturer must also get form a Notified Body a certification of the production: it is a control of the manufacturing activities based on ISO 9001 and focused on the ATEX requirements of the product. The basis of ATEX certification is the European Directive 94/9/EC, you can find almost all official information here: http://ec.europa.eu/enterprise/atex/indexinfor.htm.

What features and certifications do intrinsically safe cameras have?

A variety of models will have digital and video capablities, depending on the type bought. Some of the products have an ATEX or an EC Type Examindation Certificate or an IECEx certificate for use in explosive atmospheres.

How do you test motor thermal protection relay?

The thermistor motor protection relays CM-MSE, CM-MSS and CM-MSN are used to control motors equipped with PTC temperature sensors. The PTC temperature sensors are incorporated in the motor windings to measure the motor heating. This enables direct control and evaluation of various operating conditions. Depending on the products also ATEX approvals for use in hazardous areas are available.

Who benefits from walkie-talkie and how?

Benefits: - Wireless communication within some distance - No operation costs (except radio licensing fee for using PBR) - Instant live time communication - Communicating in potentially explosive atmospheres area (using ATEX equipment) - Communicating in heavy weather conditions (weatherproof radios) - Multifunctional equipment matches different layers and needs of communicationInstitutions that benefits most: - Military, Police, Security, Offices, Public + Private Companies, Factory Buildings, Transport Vehicles, Private Users, Farms, Aeroplanes and Airports, Public Transport Services (Buses, Trains), Army Relative Institutions (Marines, Air Forces, Troops), Shopping Centres, Radio Amateurs, Schools, Construction Sites, etc.Kamil

Advantage of vane motor?

Air vane motor advantages: - low weight and small size (only 1/5 of the weight and 1/2 of the size of an electric motor of equivalent power) - safe or use in potentially explosive requirements (air motors fulfill ATEX requirements) - overload safe - an airmotor can be load to standstill without damage - sterilisable for repeated use in clean-rooms - sealed - even for underwater usage - insensitive to cleaning agents - suitable for the high standards of the food processing and pharmaceutical industry - insensitive to acids - torque increase with higher load - insensitive to vibrations - insensitive to heat - insensitive to dust - reversible - can be set in both rotational directions - speed is easy to controll: adjustment of the speed by altering the pressure or air quantity (throttling via valve) - low installation costs - maintenance friendly What is an air vane motor? Alle vane motors essentially consist of a rotor, which circulates in an exxentrically offset perforation of a rotor cyclinder. Because of this eccentrically offset perforation, the vanes form working-chambers. The expanding of the compressed supply air (the pressure energy) is converted into kinetic energy - this results in a rotation of the rotor. A typically vanes motor speeds up to approx. 60,000 rpm. In combination with a gear box the speed can be regulated down to 5 rpm. Air vane motors are safe and robust drive systems, which come into play when a high performance and overload safe drive is required. Always ready for action long after traditional drive technology has stopped spinning!

Are blackberry cell phones intrinsically safe?

Standard cell phones do not meet the international safety standards for use in hazardous areas. Intrinsic safety is one of several methods used to ensure worker safety while using electrical appliances and equipment in gaseous hazardous area. For standard everyday use cell phones the added cost of meeting these standards would massively increase the cost of the handsets and, because the standard defines various levels of gas hazard it would be impossible to educate all users as to what is safe and what is not each hazard area. The hazardous goods industry including all of the major chemical and petrochemical manufacturers and refiners operating in developed countries apply one or more of the various international safety standards. This is either by regulation from worker safety bodies or by the individual company's own OH&S regulations. International standards for "explosion protection" provide technical standards and methods of testing for all electrical equipment used in hazardous areas where it may, through either design or fault or malfunction cause a spark or "hot spot" which would be capable of igniting the types of gases in the area. The explosion protections standards used in Europe are from the International Electrotechnical Commission and enforced and regulated through the Government mandated ATEX regulations. The approvals are based on meeting typically either the IEC standards (IECEx) or Cenelec Standards. These standards are also now commonly accepted in the USA where section 500 of the National Electrical Code regulates and defines compliance. Other standards typically accepted in the world are from Underwriter's Laboratories or Factory Mutual (USA) as well as CSA (Canadian Standards). Intrinsic safety is one of 9 methods of explosion protection. Intrinsic safety infers that the unit is "intrinsically safe", i.e. it cannot cause an unsafe situation due to it design. The design criteria typically demands multiple (sometimes triple, depending on the application) layers of electrical protection (safety barriers) to allow multiple faults to occur in the unit and yet still allow compliance. Other type of protection, often mistakenly called "intrinsic safety" include encapsulation, oil filled and enhanced protection, Ex e. Very often we hear the myth busters type comments of "we can't make it ignite the gas". These safety standards go one step further than the typical uneducated and/or unscientific approach and take into account faults and fault tolerances, and provide multiple layers of protection against such occurrences. Major manufacturers of explosion protected equipment are: Cell phones are available from Ex Technology www.dcaexpro.com (Australia) and Ecom Instruments www.ecom-ex.com(Germany). Other intrinsically safe hardware is available from such reputable manufacturers asPepperl & Fuchs www.pepperl-fuchs.com (Germany) Crouse Hinds www.crouse-hinds.com/ (Germany) , MTL Instruments www.mtl-inst.com (UK). There are also a lot of unscrupulous fringe suppliers who infer compliance so be be careful. Buy from the manufacturer to ensure safety. It is easy for unscrupulous suppliers to put some labels on a handset and call it safe.
