To get the shield: To get the Shield you need to go over to the house with the water wheel in Ordon village and midna will let you jump up into the house once you see the shield ram into the wall below it and it will fall off the wall then jump out the conveniently opened window
To get the Sword: After getting the shield you will then see a cut scene where the man with the pregnant wife (forgot his name) will rant about monsters and walk around with a flaming stick, wait until he moves away from his house to run behind him keep your distance from the House's front porch so his wife doesn't see you go around to the side of the house and use your "sense" near the pile of logs you will see a spot to dig, dig into that spot to enter the house where you can grab the sword then leave and You've done it you got the shield and sword :)
