There were 1863 2 cent pieces which were minted as pattern coins - test pieces to see what coins look like before a great number are minted and released into general circulation. The 1863 2 cent patten coins feature George Washington - the first time he appeared on a US coin and the interesting motto "GOD OUR TRUST" These pattern 2 cent pieces are quite rare and worth thousands of dollars.
