That type of energy would be Electromagnetism, or light. Light has all sorts of wavelengths, from radio waves and microwaves to the visible spectrum and on up to ultraviolet and gamma radiation. All are forms of light, and can travel through the vacuum of space, proving they don't need a medium.
Different things happen when they hit a medium, however. they slow down (not visibly mind you) and their angle gets changed. Prisms for example, have the ability to bend different wavelengths of light at different angles, splitting "white" light into its component colors, the rainbow.
longitudinal waves
by refraction
all wave are produced by a source but mechanical waves requires material medium to propagate it e.g is sound wave which is a mechanical wave needs material medium for it's propagation i.e material medium like air molecule, sound travels by vibration of air molecule that's why sound can't travel in a vacuum.....
Light travels as light energy. Light is a type of electromagnetic wave.
True
Light energy.
A vacuum.

True
trough wave
Anything that "transports" the wave. The specific medium depends on the type of wave; a water wave travels through water, a sound wave through air (or other material), electromagnetic waves, as well as gravity waves, can travel through empty space.f
