The Universal Serial Bus (USB) send the signal serially. This would be slower than handling the data in parallel. Modern advances in processing speed has made the USB as fast as older parallel ports.
The main advantage of USB is ease of use and 'plugability'. You can attach peripheral devices without switching the computer off first. They are 'Hot Swapable'.
There are only four contact pins on a USB socket. Two power and two data lines. This makes it simple, cheap and safe.

∙ 12y agohonestly none but you have better performance from the ports in the back of the computer desktop than the front but the speed is almost always the same, try downloading a 3rd party transfer agent like teracopy, also if is the first time your using a usb device try letting the drivers install and then remove and reconnect the device again, most times the speed may get stuck at 1mbps just because you have not done this
