The use of a mobile phone can be a god send to some people, especially the elderly. They need contact with family and friends as they may be less mobile in their being able to get about. However even the elderly can abuse this gift of communication when it is used for gossiping. To use the mobile just for the sake of it is an abuse of your real time and what else you can be doing with it. Mobiles are a privilege to help us not only to keep n touch with others but to seek advise or call the emergency services.
It does away with the expectancy of receiving a hand written letter, or a personal visit from a friend and to chat over a hot drink. I have never owned a mobile phone nor any of the modern gizmo's that are available today and never will, though to answer your question on my computer is a privilege and a joy to me. I do pity the young folk of today who always seem to have a little box permanently attached to their ear.
